COMPREHENSIVE CARDIOLOGY CARE AT RACE CARDIAC CLINIC

Echocardiography

Often referred to as an "echo" is a diagnostic test that uses sound waves (ultrasound) to create detailed images of the heart.  Ultrasound waves are safe for everyone, even pregnant females.  It helps visualize and assess function of the heart muscle and heart valves.

It's a non-invasive procedure that provides detailed pictures of the heart's structure, function, and blood flow.

You will have to change into a clean disposable modesty gown that opens at the front. The sonographer (cardiac technician) will ask you to lie on your left side on a couch. A wand coated with jelly will be placed on your heart and under the left breast.

Please allow 30-45 minutes for the study.
