What Is RACE Clinic ?

RApid Cardiac Evaluation (RACE) Clinic is a specialized comprehensive service designed  for patients who need urgent cardiac assessment without the need for hospital emergency room care.

At the RACE Clinic, patients can typically see a Cardiologist within one to two days, significantly reducing the long wait times often associated with standard referrals. This allows for prompt evaluation, early diagnosis, and timely initiation of treatment or further testing, helping to prevent the progression of potential heart conditions.

We provide fast-tracked cardiac assessments for individuals experiencing symptoms or who have risk factors for heart disease. These can include chest pain, palpitations, shortness of breath, dizziness, or episodes of fainting.

Who Is At Risk Of Heart Disease?

Certain health conditions and lifestyle factors can significantly increase your risk of developing heart disease. These include:

  • Diabetes
  • High cholesterol
  • High blood pressure
  • Tobacco use
  • Kidney disease
  • Family history of heart disease

But risk doesn’t stop there. There are also often overlooked factors that deserve attention, such as:

  • Prediabetes
  • Sleep apnea
  • Steroid use
  • Recreational drug use
  • Inflammatory conditions like rheumatoid arthritis or lupus
  • Ethnic backgrounds

If you have any of these risk factors, a proactive heart health check could make a real difference. Your heart deserves early care — not just emergency care.

Heart Health Matters for Women, too.

Women need heart health checks just as much as men — and in some cases, even more attention is needed.  As heart disease in women can be more subtle or go unrecognized.   Symptoms may include..

  • Fatigue
  • Shortness of breath
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Discomfort in neck, jaw or back
  • Chest pressure (not always pain)

Regular heart health checks can help detect problems early, especially for women with risk factors like high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, or a family history of heart disease.

If you're a woman over 40, or have any risk factors or symptoms — a heart check could save your life.
